In a city 90% of the population own a car, 15% own a motorcycle, and everybody owns one or the or both. What is the percentage of motorcycle owners who own cars?

A    5%

B    15%

C    33(1/3)%

D    50%

Solution

Correct Answer: Option C

Let  A = Population who owns a car  B = Population who owns a motorcycle  AUB = Number of population  A∩B = Population who owns both car and motorcycle  P(AUB) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A∩B)  P(A∩B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(AUB)  = 0.9 + 0.15 - 1  = 0.05  = 5%
