8 years ago, the fathers age was eight times the age of his son. after 10 years, the fathers age will be twice the age of the son. What are their present ages?

A    32 and 11

B    42 and 21

C    52 and 11

D    55 and 15

Solution

Correct Answer: Option A

before 8 years, if son's age was x years then father's age was 8x years then , sons current age = x+8 father's current age = 8x+8 here, 8x+8+10= 2(x+8+10) or,x=3 so, fathers current age = 24+8=32 so, sons current age = 3+8=11
