The mandibular minor connector should ideally be ladder-like because this design provides optimal rigidity and strength while minimizing bulk. The ladder shape allows even distribution of occlusal forces and ensures sufficient surface area for soldering and connection to other RPD components. It also maintains soft tissue clearance to prevent irritation and facilitate oral hygiene. Other shapes may either lack strength or cause discomfort due to inadequate tissue adaptation. Therefore, the ladder-like design enhances both function and patient comfort in removable partial dentures.
