Pott's disease is the term used for tuberculous infection of the spine. It primarily affects the anterior portion of the vertebral bodies, leading to their destruction and subsequent spinal instability. Clinically, it presents with back pain, kyphotic deformity (gibbus), and possible spinal cord compression. Early diagnosis and treatment with anti-tubercular therapy are crucial to prevent permanent neurological deficits. Surgical intervention may be necessary to decompress the spinal cord, correct deformity, and stabilize the spine. Understanding that Pott’s disease is specifically spinal tuberculosis is key to differentiating it from other infections.
