Suction evacuation is primarily used to terminate early pregnancy by removing uterine contents through a gentle vacuum suction. It is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive procedure commonly performed during the first trimester. The procedure involves inserting a cannula into the uterine cavity and applying negative pressure to aspirate the products of conception. This method reduces complications such as excessive bleeding and uterine trauma compared to sharp curettage. It is not indicated for treating endometriosis, fibroids, or PID, as these conditions require different therapeutic approaches.
