This condition is characterized by continued vaginal bleeding and sometimes pain, indicating that the uterus has not fully expelled all contents. Surgical management, such as dilation and curettage (D&C), is often required to remove the residual tissue and prevent complications like infection or heavy bleeding. RPOC directly represents partial evacuation of uterine contents, distinguishing it from other abortion types that do not involve retained tissue.
