Of a pole in pond, 20 portions are in mud, 50 of it in water and the rest 6 feet is above water. What is the length of the pole?

A    40 feet

B    35 feet

C    30 feet

D    23 feet

Solution

Correct Answer: Option E

If the whole pond is 1.

Mud and water portion = 0.20 + 0.50 = 0.70 unit

So, portion of the pole above the water = (1 - 0.70) unit

                                                             = 0.30 unit

Now,

0.30 is above water when the whole pole is 1 unit

6 feet is above water when the whole pole is (1 * 6) / 0.30 feet
