If a person walks at 14 km/hr instead of 10 km/hr, he can cover 20 km more. The actual distance travelled by him is-

A 50km

B 56km

C 70km

D 80km

Solution

Correct Answer: Option A

Let the actual distance travelled be x km.

Time taken to travel x km at 10 km/hr = x/10 hr
Time taken to travel x+20 km at 14 km/hr = (x+20)/14 hr

Since the time taken is the same, we have:
x/10 = (x+20)/14
⇒14x = 10x + 200
⇒4x = 200
⇒x = 50 km
Therefore, the actual distance travelled is 50 km.
