P is now 8 years older than Q. 17 years ago P was twice as old as Q. How old will Q be in 10 years?

A    43

B    35

C    15

D    27

Solution

Correct Answer: Option B

Let, present age of Q=x

 and present age of P = x+8

17 years ago,

Q’s age=(x-17) and P’s age=(x+8-17)

According to the question,

(x+8-17)=2(x-17)

=> 2x-x=34-9

=> x=25

So, After 10 years Q’s age will be (25+10)=35 years
