P and Q started a business in the ratio of 2 : 3. After 2 years P left the business but Q continued. After 3 years he had a profit of Tk 26000. What was the profit of P?

Let,
the initial capital of P and Q be Tk. 2x and Tk. 3x respectively.
Then, ratio of profits = (2x × 24) : (3x × 36)
= (2x × 2) : (3x × 3)
= 4x : 9y
= 4 : 9
∴ Profit of P = 26000 × (4/13)
= 2000 × 4
= Tk. 8000
