Let
The cost of a table and that of a chair be Tk. x and Tk. y respectively.
Then,
2x + 3y = 3500................(i)
and
3x + 2y = 4000................(ii)
(ii)× 3 - (i) × 2 ⇒
9x + 6y - 4x - 6y = 12000 - 7000
⇒ 5x = 5000
⇒ x = 1000
