A machine is sold at a profit of 10%. Had it been sold for Tk. 40 less, there would have been a loss of 10%. What was the cost price?

A Tk.175

B Tk. 200

C Tk. 225

D Tk. 250

Solution

Correct Answer: Option B

Let, cost price of the machine is x tk

Selling price = 1.1x tk

ATQ,
1.1x - 40 = 0.9x
⇒ 1.1x - 0.9x = 40
⇒ 0.2x = 40
⇒ x = 40/.2
= Tk. 200
