Ten years ago, A was half of B in age. If the ratio of their present age is 3:4, what will be the total of their present ages?

A    20 years

B    30 years

C    45 years

D    None of these

Solution

Correct Answer: Option D

Let A's age 10 years ago = x years.  Then, B's age 10 years ago = 2x years. (x + 10) / (2x+ lO) = 3/4  => x = 5. So, the total of their present ages =(x + 10 + 2x + 10)  = (3x + 20) = 35 years.
