A student first reduced a number by 20% and then increased it again by 20%. If the difference between the last number and the original number is 8, then the original number was?

A    200

B    250

C    300

D    450

Solution

Correct Answer: Option A

Suppose, Total marks= 100

20% reduced= 80

Then, 20% increased=80+80 of 20%=96

Difference=100-96=4

4 difference then orginal number =100

8 difference then orginal number=(100×8)/4

                                               =200

20% increased= 96%

Difference = 100-96 = 4

Difference is 4 when the original number is 100

 ,,            ,,   8   ,,      ,,   = 200
