Two numbers are respectively 12% and 25% more than a third number. The first number is approximately how much per cent of the second number?
Correct Answer: Option A
Let the third number be x.
First number is 12% more than the third number.
∴first number = x + 12% of x = 1.12x
Second number is 25% more than the third number.
Second number = x + 25% of x = 1.25x
So, Required percentage \(= \frac{{first\;number}}{{second\;number}} \times 100\% = \frac{{1.12x}}{{1.25x}} \times 100\% = 89.6 \approx 90\)
