A group of kids decided to compete by throwing maximum number of stones in a tank which is 80 m long and 50 m. broad. If 250 stones were thrown by them and the average displacement of 1 stone is 4 cub. m, what was the rise in the water level?

Correct Answer: Option D

Displacement of water by a single kid = 4 cub. m

Then, Displacement by 250 stones = number of kids × Displacement by one stone

Displacement by 250 Stones = 250 × 4 = 1000 cub. m

Since the area of tank = length of the tank × breadth of the tank

= 80m × 50m = 4000 sq m.

Rise in water level = volume of water displaced by 250 kids/area of the tank

⇒ Rise in water level = 1000/4000 = 0.25 m

Since 1 m = 100 cm

So, Rise in water level = 0.25 × 100 = 25 cm
