Let,
The numbers be x and y, x < y.
Then
x + y = 124 ................(1)
(x + 2)/y = 1/2
⇒ y = 2x + 4 ..................(2)
x + y = 124
⇒ x + 2x + 4 = 124
⇒ 3x = 120
∴ x = 40
The numbers be x and y, x < y.
Then
x + y = 124 ................(1)
(x + 2)/y = 1/2
⇒ y = 2x + 4 ..................(2)
x + y = 124
⇒ x + 2x + 4 = 124
⇒ 3x = 120
∴ x = 40
