The ratio of daily incomes of P and Q is 9 : 7 and the ratio of their expenditures is 4: 3. If each saves 200 per day, then the sum of their daily incomes is :
Correct Answer: Option E
P : Q = 9 : 7
Daily income of P is 9x
Daily income of Q is 7x
Expenditure of P is 4y
Expenditure of Q is 3y
Now according to the problem, 9x – 4y = 200….(i)
And 7x – 3y = 200……(ii)
Multiplying equation (i) by 3 and multiplying equation (ii) by 4,
27x-12y = 600
28x-12y = 800
Subtracting the prior from the later,
X = 200
Daily income of P = 9x = 1800
Daily income of Q = 7x = 1400
Total daily income = 1800 + 1400 = 3200
