The ratio of number of employees in Aerospace, Chemical industry and Software industry is 3 : 5 : 8. What is the new ratio of the number of employees in Aerospace, Chemical industry and Software industry respectively if there is an increase of 20%, 40% and 25% in the number of employees in Aerospace, Chemical industry and Software industry?
Correct Answer: Option A
Let the number of students is x.
Given that,
The ratio of number of employees in Aerospace, Chemical industry and Software industry is 3:5:8.
So,
Number of employees in the Aerospace = 3x
Number of employees in the chemical industry = 5x
Number of employees in the software industry = 8x
According to the question,
There is an increase of 20%, 40% and 25% in the number of employees in Aerospace, Chemical industry and Software industry.
Then,
Number of employees in the Aerospace after increment of 20%
= 3x + (20% of 3x)
\(= \;3x\; + \;\frac{{3x}}{5}\)
\(= \;\frac{{18x}}{5}\) ----( 1)
Number of employees in the chemical industry after increment of 40%
= 5x + (40% of 5x)
= 5x + 2x
= 7x -----( 2)
Number of employees in the software industry after increment of 25%
= 8x + (25% of 8x)
= 8x + 2x
= 10x -----( 3)
So, the new ratio of the number of employees in Aerospace, Chemical industry and Software industry respectively if there is an increase of 20%, 40% and 25% in the number of employees will be
= 18x/5 : 7x : 10x
= 18 : 35 : 50
∴ The new ratio of the number of employees in Aerospace, Chemical industry and Software industry respectively if there is an increase of 20%, 40% and 25% in the number of employees will be 18 : 35 : 50.
