We know that,
Cost of fresh oranges+ cost of packaging = Total cost
Earlier,
Let the cost of fresh orange be Rs 1, then cost of packaging = Rs 0.4
∴ Total cost = 1 + 0.4 = 1.4
Later,
Cost of fresh orange and that of packaging would be Rs 1.3 and 0.2 respectively.
∴ Total cost = 1.3 + 0.2 = 1.5
∴ Percentage increase in cost-
\(= \frac{{\left( {1.5 - 1.4} \right)}}{{1.4}} \times 100\% = 7.14\%\)
Hence, the required increment in cost is 7.14%.
