Bus stops at 12 stations for 2 minutes each. So, bus stopped for a total of 24 minutes.
Total time taken by bus = 1 hour and 30 minutes = 1.5 hours
Total time for which bus ran = 1 hour and 30 minutes – 24 minutes = 1 hour and 6 minutes = 1.1 hours
∴ Distance travelled by bus = Time for which bus ran × Running speed of bus = 1.1 × 40 = 44 km
