x + y = 21 .................. (1)
x - y = 7 .................. (2)
Now,
From, (1) + (2), we get,
2x = 28
or, x = 14
And, the other number is,
14 + y = 21
or, y = 21 - 14
or, y = 7
Thus,
The greater number is = 14
Half of the greater number is= 14/2 = 7
