A person gave 20% and 30% of his income to his younger son and elder son respectively, then he gave 10% of the remaining income to a beggar, and now he has only 10080 rupees. Find his total income.
Correct Answer: Option A
Let total income of the person be x rupees
So, the remaining amount after giving his sons
\(= x - \left( {x \times \frac{{20}}{{100}} + \frac{{x \times 30}}{{100}}} \right) = \frac{x}{2}\) rupees
∴ Amount remaining after giving 10% to the beggar
\(= \frac{x}{2} - \left( {\frac{x}{2} \times \frac{{10}}{{100}}} \right) = \frac{{9x}}{{20}}\) rupees
Now, according to the question –
\(\frac{{9x}}{{20}} = 10080\)
\(⇒x=1120×20=22,400\) rupees
