In a medical certificate, by mistake a candidate gave his height as 23% more than normal. In the interview panel, he clarified that his height was 5 feet 7 inches. Find the percentage correction made by the candidate from his stated height to his actual height.
Correct Answer: Option B
Actual height of the candidate = 5 feet 7 inches
∴ Actual height of the candidate = (5 × 12 ) + 7 inches
∴ Actual height of the candidate = 67 inches
Height mentioned by the candidate = 67 + (23 % of 67 )
∴Height mentioned by the candidate = 82.41 inches
% correction from stated to actual height = \(\frac{{Stated\;height - actual\;height\;}}{{stated\;height\;}}\; \times 100\)
∴ % correction = \(\frac{{82.41 - 67}}{{82.41}} \times 100\)
∴ % correction = 18.7
Thus % correction made from stated to actual height is 18.7 %
