A, B and C entered into a partnership by investing Rs, 12,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 18,000 respectively. What is the total profit if A’s share is 3,000.

A Rs. 10,500

B Rs. 11,500

C Rs. 20,000

D Rs. 14,000

E Rs. 11,250

Solution

Correct Answer: Option E

Ratio of shares = Ratio of investments

Ratio of investment= 12,000 : 15,000 : 18,000 = 12 : 15 : 18 = 4 : 5 : 6

Now A’s share is 3000

Let the total profit be y

\(\begin{array}{l} \therefore \frac{4}{{4 + 5 + 6}} \times y = 3,000\\ \Rightarrow \frac{4}{{15}} \times y = 3,000 \end{array}\)

\(⇒ y = Rs. 11250\)
