A train is running at the rate of 40 kmph. A man is also going in the same direction parallel to the train at the speed of 25 kmph. If the train crosses the man in 48 seconds, the length of the train is _____ metres.

A 100

B 150

C 200

D 250

E None of these

Solution

Correct Answer: Option C

Relative speed between the man and the train will be the difference between the 2 speeds

Because they are moving in the same direction

∴ relative speed = 15 km/hr

Time = 48/3600 hrs

Distance = Speed × Time

∴ Length of the train \(= \;15\; \times \;\frac{{48}}{{3600}}\; \times \;1000\) m

∴ Length of the train is 200 m
