One number is wrong in the following number series given in each of the following questions. You have to identity that number and assuming that a new series starts with that number following the same logic as in the given series, what will be the third number in the new series?
160 80 120 180 1050 4725 25987.5
Correct Answer: Option E
The pattern of given series is:
→ 160,
→ 80 = 160 × ½,
→ 120 = 80 × 3/2,
→ 180 ≠ 120 × 5/2 = 300,
→ 1050 = 300 × 7/2,
→ 4725 = 1050 × 9/2,
→ 25987.5 = 4725 × 11/2,
∴ 180 is the wrong number in the series and the correct number will be 300
Based on the above pattern we can create the following series
→ 180,
→ 90 = 180 × ½,
→ 135 = 90 × 3/2,
Hence, third number in the new series is 135
