The average age of a man and his son is 18 years. The ratio of their ages is 5:1 respectively. What will be the ratio of their ages after 6 years?
Correct Answer: Option D
Let age of son and man = a and 5a respectively,
∴ Average of age = \(\frac{{a + 5a}}{2} = 18\)
⇒ 6a = 18 × 2
⇒ a = 6
Then, present age of man and son = 30 and 6 years respectively,
After 6 years, age of son = 12 years
Age of man = 30 + 6 = 36 years
∴ Required ratio = 36 : 12
⇒ 3 : 1
