A mixture A (20 liters) and B (40 liters) with water: milk ratio 1 : 1 and 2 : 3 respectively. If A and B are mixed, find the new water to milk ratio.
Correct Answer: Option B
Amount of Water in A = (1/2) × 20 =10 litre
Amount of Milk in A = (1/2) × 20 =10 litre
Amount of Water in B = (2/5) × 40 =16 litre
Amount of Milk in B = (3/5) × 40 = 24 litre
In (A + B), Water = 10 + 16= 26 litre
Milk = 10 + 24 = 34 litre
Ratio of water to milk = 26 : 34
⇒ Ratio of water to milk =13 : 17
