Given, Four transport companies are A, B, C and D
Number of cars kept by A in the parking place = 12
Number of months kept in parking = 5 months
Total number of car-months kept by A = 5 × 12 = 60
Number of cars kept by B in the parking place = 20
Number of months kept in parking = 6 months
Total number of car-months kept by B = 6 × 20 = 120
Number of cars kept by C in the parking place = 15
Number of months kept in parking = 5 months
Total number of car-months kept by C = 5 × 15 = 75
Number of cars kept by D in the parking place = 30
Number of months kept in parking = 6 months
Total number of car-months kept by D = 6 × 30 = 180
∴ Total number of cars kept in parking = 60 + 120 + 75 + 180 = 435
A’s share in the rent = Rs. 2400
∴ 60 car-months = 2400
435 car-months = (2400/60) × 435
⇒ Total rent of the parking place = (435/60) × 2400 = Rs. 17,400
