A shopkeeper gives 25% discount on an article and makes a profit of 10%. If the cost price of the article is Rs 300 then what is the marked price?
Correct Answer: Option D
Suppose the marked price be Rs 100a.
He gives discount of 25%, hence the price at which he sold the article= 0.75 × 100a = 75aEven after selling the article at 75a he is earning 10% profit.
Hence cost Price = Rs (75a)/1.1
According to the question cost Price = Rs 300
Hence, (75a)/1.1 = 300
\(\Rightarrow a = \frac{{300 \times 1.1}}{{75}} = 4.4\)
So marked Price = 100a = 100 × 4.4 = Rs 440.
