A long distance runner runs 15 laps of a 400 metres track every day. His timings (in min) for five consecutive days are 44, 43, 39, 38 and 36 respectively. On an average, how many km/hr does the runner covers?
Correct Answer: Option D
Total distance = 15 laps × 400 meters × 5 days
Total distance = 30000 meters
Total time = 44 + 43 + 39 + 38 + 36
Total time = 200 minutes
Total time(in seconds) = 200 × 60 = 12000 seconds
Speed = Distance/Time
Speed (in m/sec) = 30000/12000 = 2.5 m/sec
1 m/sec = 18/5 km/hr
⇒ Speed (in km/hr) = 2.5 × 18/5 = 9 km/hr
Hence the answer is 9 km/hr
