A, B and C are three partners. A and B have money in the ratio 7 : 17 and B and C also have money in the same ratio 7 : 17. If A has Rs. 4900, then find the amount of money C has.

A Rs. 23300

B Rs. 26820

C Rs. 28900

D Rs. 30000

E Rs. 29300

Solution

Correct Answer: Option C

Given that, A and B have money in the ratio 7 : 17 and B and C also have money in the same ratio 7 : 17. A has Rs. 4900

Let A, B and C have Rs. x, Rs. y and Rs. z respectively then x = Rs.4900

\(\frac{x}{y}\; = \;\frac{7}{{17}}\;\)

\(\Rightarrow y\; = \;\frac{{17x}}{7}\;\)

\(\Rightarrow y\; = \;\frac{{17}}{7} \times \;4900\)

 = Rs.11900

\(\frac{y}{z}\; = \;\frac{7}{{17}}\;\)

\(\Rightarrow z\; = \;\frac{{17}}{7}\; \times \;y\;\)

\(\; = \;\frac{{17}}{7} \times 11900\)

 = Rs.28900
