Mohit purchased 25 kg of sugar at Rs. 30 per kg and mixed it with 15 kg of sugar at Rs. 36 per kg. At what rate should he sell the mixture to gain 10%.
Correct Answer: Option B
Quantity of sugar purchased at Rs 30 per kg = 25 kg
Total amount of money spent to buy this quality of sugar = 25 × 30
= 750
Quantity of sugar purchased at Rs 36 per kg = 15 kg
Total amount of money spent to buy this quality of sugar = 15 × 36
= 540
Total money spent = 750 + 540
= Rs. 1290
Now, to obtain 10% profit on the deal he needs to earn 10% of 1290
Hence, SP of 40 kg sugar = 1290 + 10% of 1290
= 1290 + (10/100) × 1290
= 1290 + 129
= 1419
We have SP of 40 kg suger = Rs 1419
∴ SP of 1 kg suger = Rs 1419/40
= Rs. 35.475
