If two opposite sides of a square are increased by 10 cm each, then the sides of previous and new figure are in the ratio of 11:12. What is the area of the original square?
Correct Answer: Option B
Let the original side of the square be X cm, then new sides of the new figure would be X cm and X+10 cm.
Now, new ratio of the sides = X : X + 10,
⇒ 11 : 12 = X : X + 10,
Solving, X = 110 cm.
∴ Side of the original square = 110 cm.
∴ Area of the original square = multiplication of both sides = 110 × 110 = 12100 cm2.
